Our Story
Dube Travel Agency was founded by Paul Dube on July 1, 1962. In the past 62 years, our company has grown to be one of the largest, most respected agencies in the State of Maine, and one of the leading Pilgrimage and WYD companies in the country. We are a family-owned company which allows us to ensure that our family and faith values are the primary ruling principles in running our company and that is what has allowed us to succeed and continue to grow.
Our company handles travel in all areas including business travel, vacation travel, and group travel. Our pilgrimages and World Youth Day Tours are run from our Group Department.
World Youth Day
History of WYD
In 1984, St. Pope John Paul II organized a gathering called the Youth Jubilee of the Holy Year of Redemption in Rome on Palm Sunday.
The event expected around 60,000 pilgrims and ended up bringing in over 250,000 young people from all over the world.
Because of its success, St. Pope John Paul II decided to do it again the following year, which surpassed the previous year's attendance with 300,000 young Catholics.
In that same year of 1985, the Holy Father announced the institution of World Youth Day, and the first official international World Youth Day was held in 1987 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Since its creation, there have been 15 World Youth Day Celebrations in multiple countries all over the world, occurring every three years bringing in millions of Catholics, with the most recent being in Lisbon, Portugal.
Dube's WYD Experience
Our first World Youth Day was in 1997, to WYD Paris with the Salesian Youth Ministry and the Diocese of Portland Maine. Since then, we have grown our numbers of pilgrims for each event. Below is a listing of the numbers of person we have handled to the different World Youth Day events:

Dube Travel provides customized pilgrimages to WYD for Dioceses and parishes. We were the official USA travel company for WYD Krakow in 2016, and we will be bringing pilgrims to Seoul for the 2027 WYD.
Experience WYD Seoul
Pope Francis announced Seoul would be the host of the next WYD following the conclusion of the closing mass at WYD Lisbon in 2023. This marked the second WYD to occur in Asia, and the first in over 30 years.
Seoul is the capital, as well as the largest city in South Korea with a population of around 10 million people.
